A Star is Born (13.2 billion years ago)

Phil Plait breaks the news on The Bad Astronomy Blog that a very, very very old star has been found. In the post titled Star found, older than Abe Vigoda .

In a press release, it is announced that Dr. Anna Frebel of The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory has measured the age of an ancient star is our Milky Way galaxy at 13.2 billion years old. Now, Abe is old, but not *that* old, Phil.

The results are published intoday’s edition of The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
